We, people, are the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. We should be the epitome of solidarity and greatness. In this world full of uncertainties and problems, there is always a person who will create and make space for change, who will make a move to find an opportunity to empower, build a good community, and create a safe place for everyone.
FACES (Filipino-American Coalition for Environmental Solidarity) is a good example of an organization that brings people closer to the safety and well-being of each other and Mother Earth. This intergenerational organization aims to address transnational environmental justice issues affecting Filipino communities in the United States and the Philippines. Their personal stories live, and struggles inspire them to have a vision in which people are healthy and free to realize their potential through cooperation and solidarity. Furthermore, this volunteer-run organization works with youth, elders, and knowledge bearers to restore and revitalize Filipino ancestral traditions and practices to heal communities and have a sacred relationship with the earth. The aforementioned organization was founded in February 2000 as a growing movement of church, environmental, peace, and justice groups, students, scientists, professionals, and other concerned citizens dedicated to seeking environmental justice for communities affected by toxic contamination at former US military bases in the Philippines. Through their mission, they have greatly aided in the exploration of climate solutions from the Philippines to the United States.
A big salute to their dedication and goal of establishing links between the work being done in the Philippines and the fights for environmental justice in the United States. An inspiration to many people to give care for the environment and make bridges for the community to support and build a good community. You can do anything, you can help in many ways, and you can be an advocate. Act for a change.
