Representatives from different government agencies such as the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Commission of Overseas Filipinos (CFO) had a gathering on November 8, 2019 at Century Park Hotel, Manila to draft the plan for "Parangal ng Kalipi 2020".
"Parangal ng Kalipi" is an event to recognize the efforts of overseas Filipino organizations in their efforts of promoting Filipino culture and arts outside the Philippines.
Present on the lunch meeting are CFO Chairman Francisco Acosta, NCCA Executive Director Ryan Alejandre, DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Menez, OBRA Incorporated Founding Director Nash Ang, Kalipi Initiative Founder Manuel Pacheco and other high-level goverment officials.
"Filipinos may hate each other, but if war comes, we are all united. Why? Because we are all Filipinos. We are united by one cause, and that applies also to overseas Filipinos.", said Justice Francisco Acosta on the round table discussion.
This initiative is to concert the efforts of executing the Presidential proclamation 1958 signed by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on December 1, 2009.
Part of the plan is to hear the feedbacks and insights of the potential awardees in America to make the event more remarkable.
Tune in to Pinoy California for updates of this gathering, inviting the Filipino leaders of California on the first quarter of year 2020.
