This is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Los Angeles. If LA is one on your bucket list, this is an excellent opportunity to get to know this wonderful Filipinotown Eastern Getaway.

Historic Filipinotown’s easter gateway, The Largest Filipino-American Monument!

The largest archway was named "Talang Gabay- Our Guiding Star," and it was unveiled in April last year to coincide with the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month Celebration. This also represents the tribute for the Filipino -American community with their invaluable contributions to the city. This 30-foot-tall monument will amaze you with its structure. The 82-foot-long gateway spans the boulevard entrance into the Filipino town neighborhood. Celestino Geronimo Jr. and Eliseo Art Silva, two Filipino-American artists, created the designs. This gateway incorporates several Filipino cultural symbols, including the signature lantern, also known as Parol, the lovely Gumamela flower, and the Sarimanok bird. The salakot shape of this gateway also honors the past heroes, the manongs and farmworkers, as Silva mentioned. Each symbol has a unique meaning, and every detail of the structure demonstrates how this monument has a significant impact on the community. It took nearly 20 years for the public and the Filipino town to receive the aforementioned monument. Honoring this gateway for our beloved Filipino-American community is truly a remarkable moment for them. It is impossible to deny the fact that this is a good representation of how Filipinos commemorate the country's diversity and solidarity. The monument holds a great significance to the Filipino-Americans in Los Angeles This serves as a reminder to the Filipino communities in the United States to always be proud of their roots. Be a proud Filipino!
