This campsite has a day-use picnic site that can accommodate 35 people, and parking is restricted to four vehicles only. Furthermore, there are five overnight campsites as well. Each area can serve ten people, while three vehicles are allowed to park per site.
Site #1 is the closest to the beach. A picnic table is placed on top of a mound, allowing campers to eat while admiring the bridge.
If you enjoy boat-watching and early morning views of San Francisco Bay, site #2 is ideal. Site #3 is lower and farther away from the beach.
Meanwhile, if you want more privacy and calmness, go to site #4 because tall trees surround this location. Site #5 is also enclosed by trees and is not a perfect spot to see the view of the beach and bridge.
Kirby is a great place to visit with family and friends because it has pit toilets, barbecue pits, picnic tables, and fire rings. However, there is no potable water in the campground. Campers are recommended to bring their own.
Kirby's most notable feature, aside from the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay view, is the Kirby Cove Swing. It is one of San Francisco's most well-known swings.
Because of its spectacular view, getting reservations at Kirby Cove Campground is difficult - but if you do, you'll be able to experience one of California's most beautiful campsites.
Campers are advised to book three months in advance to ensure a reservation at the campsite.
